Glass

Today's art challenge was to paint or draw glass. Teacher said the piece was coming on, and my capacity had improved (does this mean I can draw more rubbish in the same amount of time?). Feeling very low about the output from the class, and realise I need to shift my mindset to get back to enjoying it (whatever I produce). Still, next week is out in the field ( "en plein" is the technical term I think).

So, feeling brave to show this...

Hello! Sorry to hear you are feeling a little down about the art class, you should be very pleased with your efforts and progress, and I think this picture is good. The bottles look like glass bottles! And that really is no mean feat.

I know I can be accused of bias however I try very hard to be honest and objective when I leave comments for you on your art and crafts.

I hope you find some inspiration out and about. Have a look back through your portfolio and remind yourself just how good you are and how much you have learnt, in-spite of your teacher.

I have an image of him in my head; it's not flattering! x

We very much like this weeks piece and admire your obvious skill in this particular medium. There is much depth to this picture.

Thank you both... that was a nice boost.

I have resolved to do a quick sketch a day for the next week to up the "drawing hours". And then, when we go out in teh field, I plan to paint, as this is actually what I enjoy most.

Will post the results.

Looking forward to seeing your next piece! Do you prefer watercolour or acrylics? I know you have had a go with oil, what did you think?

I love oil, I am not saying I can paint with it but I like the whole knife and spreading approach, it's very freeing. Probably not if you are creating something beautiful though!
