We stayed in a farm cottage on our holiday and every day was filled with the sights and sounds of swallows and sky larks. It was beautiful (despite the very wet weather!). Anyway - here is my attempt to capture some wonderful moments.

Inspired by Louis MacNeice's poem "The Sunlight on the Garden", this blog is about the minutes I have captured in a cage and used for my various dabblings. If you don't at least try to cage them, they just vanish. Here is the opening of the poem: The sunlight on the garden Hardens and grows cold, We cannot cage the minute Within its nets of gold, When all is told We cannot beg for pardon.

Hello and welcome back! You have been sorely missed!
I really like this, the birds came out very well. A difficult task to set yourself but I hope you are very pleased with the outcome?
A-ha! My computer is on slow. On my first visit I could only see the second painting however after posting my first comment another has appeared! Beautiful sunset. I am really glad you have had a good day of painting.
Thank you dancin' fool, it's nice to be back. Thank you for the comments on the pictures too - I am pleased with the outcome. I have abandoned my art class, as I felt I was getting little support, and I was finding some of the comments made demoralising. These are the first pictures in quite a few weeks that I have enjoyed doing. I am now reserving the time that I would have been at art class to paint in private at home, and the bonus is I get an extra hour of painting as can claw back the travel time to and from class.
We very much like both of these - leaving that teacher is the best thing you ever did.
I want those two framed and on our walls as a pair, please.
Those swallows are swifts though.
Seriously, Judge P. Particularly liked the way you've done the sun in the skylarks picture.
You're quite talented!
Hello covered in yarn - many thanks for visiting and for your nice comment.
I have visited your site today, and really admire the Ogee skirt. I have not attempted any such intricate pattern before, but I might just have a go now!
Actually my first lace project was the nighty that was free on the interweave site back in the spring. And I'm not tremendously patient I just have little cheats. I use markers and lifelines to help me know where I am and if I get off I can go back. You learn to read your work and feel the rythm of where you're going and where you've been. Don't fear it, embrace it, a beautiful thing becomes of it.
Hi Pal!
Nice to finally see the blog behind all the goodies.
Your watercolors are very pretty - did I ever mention that I work in an Art Supply store?
Hi Nephele! I'm really glad you liked all your secret pal goodies, and it is great to have you visit. I kicked myself that I had not managed to put a knitting post up before you got my blog address!
